C-H Borylation of Arenes: Steric-controlled <i>Para</i>-selectivity and Application to Molecular Nanocarbons

چکیده
The selective and predictable C-H functionalization of arenes is a valuable method for the synthesis modification organic molecules in which regioisomer formation often controlled by electronic factors or presence coordinating groups. On other hand, iridium-catalyzed borylation can achieve unique steric-controlled regioselectivity. In this account, we describe our recent studies on arenes: development novel catalytic systems that exhibit para-selectivity mono- unsymmetrically 1,2-disubstituted benzenes; their application to large polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (molecular nanocarbons).

The use of an N-heterocyclic carbene ligand is essential for an efficient reaction, with an N-cyclohexyl-substituted derivative being optimal.
